Dozens of firefighters and three waterbombing planes were battling a forest fire that broke out late Thursday near Croatia’s popular coastal resort of Trogir, officials said.

Around 70 firefighters managed to prevent the blaze from spreading to houses and a hotel complex, which were no longer imminently threatened, the national firefighting association said in a statement.
